[ The wing comes as a surprise. Baby blue eyes widen a bit because he honestly wasn’t expecting that, but it isn’t like he’s about to complain or push it way. Instead, he sinks further into the offered wing; he’s trying to see if he can completely hide himself amidst orange feathers.
It’s a welcomed comfort, too.
John nudges Dave with his elbow to let him know that it’s fine. ]

[ Completely ignoring the possibility that John might take this the wrong way (or the right way?), he almost breaks the facade to smile when he settles in, watching the boy clad in blue acting like a child trying to hide behind a bush. He realizes how fussy he was feeling when John nudged him, so he went back to relaxing as well. ]

You aren’t prepared when he starts cooing at the hair petting and you freeze for a moment, eyebrows furrowed as you stare at him. The confusion only grows when he shudders, but it soon smoothes away and a sly grin replaces it. Finally piecing together why he was acting the way he did.
It’s so very cute how he reacts to your touch and you can’t help but to return to petting his hair and swirling your fingers through it gently. It’s even cuter when he seems to just give into the feelings and just lets the noises go. You almost want to coo back at him over it, but you doubt he’d appreciate you doing that right now.
A chuckle escapes you before you can smother it, so you cover it by pressing your face against his shoulder and letting your smile take over out of view. He’s so very adorable like this, you just can’t help yourself. He’s just so affectionate right now and cuddled up to you so close that there’s no possible way it could be anything but cute.
You can feel the fondness for him burning in your chest and hum low in your throat. Content to let him keep stay close against you. When he pulls away you can’t quite hide the disappointed noise or the way the corners of your mouth tug down. Then he’s speaking though and it lets you take your mind off it for the moment.
“im not sure. whenever i feel like it really.” You let one of your shoulders shrug as you toy with your lip ring. “theyre used to me being gone for a long amount of time though so its not like theyd be missing me.”
It was true. At times you would vanish all night and not show up until sometime midday the next day. You hadn’t done that it a while though, but they shouldn’t be too worried.
A sly smirk pulls at your lips then and you raise your eyebrows at him, gesturing with a nod to how you both had your arms wrapped around each other so closely. “besides im too comfortable right now.”

You would, but he is very persistent, not to mention sneaky. You’re not sure you’ve ever had the chance to cuddle with someone like this until now, so you had no idea what you were doing. Luckily, your bird instincts had successfully taken over, so it’s not like you had to think about it.
You just do.
But not before something that almost sounds like a warble escapes your lips.

“Okay, cool,” was all you managed, before raising your eyebrow questionably at the last part that he added.
“… Yeah, me too.” You were curious as to what he was implying to, but you were almost scared to ask. Instead, you went back to burying your face in his shoulder, because like hell you knew what you were doing anymore.
